About the Recipient

Dr. Loretta Szczotka-Flynn is a professor at Case Western Reserve University in the departments of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences as well as Epidemiology & Biostatistics. She is director of the Contact Lens Service at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her doctor of optometry degree and master’s in physiological optics from The Ohio State University in 1992 and her PhD in epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University in 2009. She is a diplomate in the Section on Cornea, Contact Lenses and Refractive Technologies of the American Academy of Optometry, and she is vice-chair of the Section. Dr. Szczotka-Flynn serves on the editorial boards for Optometry and Vision Science and Eye & Contact Lens, and she is a contributing editor for Contact Lens Spectrum and Contact Lenses Today. She has received numerous major research grants and has authored or co-authored more than 55 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 10 book chapters, and 90 scientific meeting abstracts, and she has given more than 160 presentations worldwide.
