About the Presenters

Dr. Jeffrey J. Walline is the the Dean at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry and his Master’s and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Walline has led several pediatric contact lens studies, and he is the Study Chair of the Bifocal Lenses In Nearsighted Kids (BLINK and BLINK2) Studies, a National Eye Institute (NEI)-sponsored study of soft multifocal contact lens myopia control, and Co-Chair of the Delaying the Onset of Nearsightedness Until Treatment (DONUT) Study, an NEI-sponsored planning grant to prepare an application for a study to determine whether low concentration atropine can delay myopia onset.

Dr. Donald O. Mutti is the E.F. Wildermuth Foundation Professor in Optometry at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He received his OD in 1982 and his PhD in 1992 from the School of Optometry at the University of California Berkeley. Dr. Mutti’s research interests are in the emmetropization of infants and the development of myopia in children. He was a co-investigator on the NEI-funded Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Ethnicity and Refractive Error (CLEERE) study. Dr. Mutti was also the Principal Investigator of the NEI-funded Berkeley Infant Biometry (BIBS) Study, an eight-year investigation of ocular component development and emmetropization in infancy. His most recent research project was the Bifocal Lenses In Nearsighted Kids (BLINK) study, an NEI-funded clinical trial evaluating myopia progression using multifocal soft contact lenses. Dr. Mutti received the Borish Award in 1996, the Glenn A. Fry Award in 2006, and the Prentice Medal in 2025 in recognition of his contributions to research. He received the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching from The Ohio State University Alumni Association in 2014 and the Michael G. Harris Family Award for Excellence in Optometric Education in 2019 from the American Academy of Optometry Foundation.

Dr. Langis Michaud is graduated from École d’optométrie de l’Université de Montréal in 1986 where he also obtained his Master’s Degree in physiological optics (1998). He received also a diploma in Public Administration from École Nationale d’Administration Publique (ENAP) in 2006. He is a full professor and practices at Université de Montréal since 2001, as the chief of the contact lens department and served as a Dean of the School (2020-22). He is Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (Diplomate), the British Contact Lens Association, the Scleral Lens Education Society, the European Academy of Optometry and of the International Academy of Orhtokeratology and Myopia Management.

Dr. Aaron Zimmerman is a clinical professor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he teaches Advanced Contact Lenses and is the Contact Lens Service chief. He is a diplomate in the Cornea, Contact Lenses, and Refractive Technology section of the American Academy of Optometry.
