Executive Director
Regular Part-Time
Hours: Dependent upon the qualifications and availability of the candidate
Start Date: Training to begin no later than October 1, 2024, with full responsibilities beginning January 1, 2025
Location: Remote
The GP Lens Institute (GPLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing the eye care community with unbiased education and practice-building resources to realize the full benefits and advantages of GP and custom soft contact lenses. We are seeking an Executive Director who can provide sound leadership and strategic direction to expand the growth and reach of the GPLI.
Job Summary
As the Executive Director, you will create and implement the organization’s strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors. You will also oversee the daily operations of the organization and its staff and volunteers.
Qualifications
- Long-time association and involvement with specialty contact lenses
- Optometrist (preferred)
- History of being active in the GPLI (preferred)
- Leadership roles in the area of cornea and contact lenses (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Manage the development and implementation of all GPLI programs and resources
- Manage all GPLI Advisory Board activities, including a series of biannual virtual meetings
- Participate in all GPLI committees and their activities
- Meet regularly with the GPLI Administrative Director, Associate Director, Executive Committee, and the GPLI and CLMA Boards of Directors
- Nurture a collaborative relationship with the Contact Lens Manufacturers Association (CLMA)
- Nurture a variety of relationships within the eye care community
- Lead the planning of and be actively involved in the education provided at both the GPLI Cornea and Contact Lens Residents Symposium and the GPLI Specialty Contact Lens Symposium
- Represent the GPLI in meetings and in the exhibit hall at events deemed desirable by the Executive Director and/or the GPLI Board of Directors
- Identify and secure sources of funding, and work with the Development Committee on fundraising activities including meetings with potential individual donors and industry partners/donors
- Develop and serve as moderator of both the eye care professional (ECP) and student webinar programs
- Author a monthly informational newsletter on GPLI programs and resources
- Assist in the development of the GPLI annual budget; work closely with treasurer to ensure cost controls and oversight
- Answer all consumer emails (www.contactlenses.org) and ECP emails (www.gpli.info)
- Communicate regularly with the Cornea and Contact Lens Resident Advisory Board regarding their GPLI promotions, and provide them with a comprehensive GPLI Programs and Resources presentation
- Work with the Leadership Advisory Committee to determine annual GPLI awards
- Work with the Leadership Advisory Committee to determine annual GPLI Advisory Board members
- Meet annually with the contact lens faculty at the Colleges of Optometry and provide them with GPLI resources and programs for their students
